Parish Fields is proud to have been recognised as being an ‘Armed Forces veteran friendly’ accredited GP practice.
Being accredited means that our practice can better identify and treat veterans, refer them, where appropriate, to dedicated NHS services and capture better data to improve future health provision.
Our practice can support you with your healthcare in many ways, including:
- Having staff trained to treat health problems that commonly affect veterans
- Providing priority access and treatment for veterans in respect of service-related conditions
- Having knowledge of specialist NHS services designed specifically for members of the armed forces
If you do not think you have done so already, please contact the Practice and let us know if you are an Armed Forces veteran of the British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines.
A veteran is anyone who has served for at least one day in the British Armed Forces, whether as a Regular or Reservist . It means the same as ‘ex service personnel’ or ‘ex forces,’ although not all veterans know the term or choose to associate with the term ‘veteran.’
Younger veterans might refer to themselves as ‘ex-forces’
Veterans include those who were Merchant Navy seafarers or fishermen who served in a vessel used to support the UK’s armed forces at any time.
