Dr Chris Thorneley

It is with great sadness to report that, after a most courageous battle with illness, Dr Chris Thorneley passed away, peacefully, and with his family by his side,  on the afternoon of Thursday 5th June 2025.

Dr Thorneley joined Parish Fields Practice in 2010 up to his retirement on ill health grounds in March 2025. After the retirement of Dr McCarthy,  Dr Thorneley became Senior Partner at the Practice, a role now taken on by Dr Varghese.

We know from the outpouring of feedback and support from patients asking about Dr Thorneley’s health over the past few months that Dr Thorneley made such a positive impression on so many of our patients. He was not only a brilliant doctor, but an outstanding leader, and a person who genuinely cared about everyone – whether that was patients, their families or the staff at the Practice.

The staff at Parish Fields are all heartbroken and our heartfelt condolences go to Dr Thorneley’s family at this most difficult time.

We plan to have a book of condolence available for anyone who wishes to sign available at the Practice from Monday next week. If you would like to write in this book please feel free to visit the Practice between 8.30am and 6.30pm on weekdays over the next 2 weeks.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and compassion at this time, especially towards our staff who continue to work very hard every day to provide the best possible care for each of our patients as Dr Thorneley would have wished us to continue to do, and as he always strived to do himself.
